We do take protection of your personal data very seriously. Our smartphone app is designed in such a way that it can be usually used without providing any personal data. We shall treat your personal data confidentially in accordance with the legal provisions and with this privacy statement.
In order to be able to deliver push notifications (e.g. news, event details, or job vacancies), it is necessary
to collect an unambiguous device ID. Thus users will only receive the information which is relevant to them. The
device ID will be stored on the server together with the push settings as defined by the user, i.e. the
information to be transmitted as a push notification.
The device ID itself will not be linked to any other user data (e.g. to log-in credentials, name, or information
about the device’s location) and will thus not allow the actual person to be traced.
The current geographical position of the mobile device will be recorded, so that the users can be provided with
location-specific information (e.g. events, buildings, and other University’s locations in the vicinity). This
position will be transmitted via an SSL encrypted connection to the back-end system so as to compile the
locations or events near to the user’s geographical position and to transmit this information to the mobile
device. This information will then be displayed on the device.
The device’s position and thus of the user will neither be permanently stored nor linked to other personal data
(e.g. to the log-in credentials or the above mentioned device ID). Hence, it is impossible to localize
individual persons or to generate motion profiles.
Anonymized user statistics are generated to identify possible software errors, to generally improve the application, and to plan its development accordingly. In doing so, the following data are collected:
These statistics will be stored on the server and evaluated taking solely the aspects listed above. They will
not be
linked to any personal data.
Users may deactivate the feature responsible for collecting such usage statistics.
As a general rule, the collected personal data will not be shared with any third parties, neither as a whole nor
in
any other format processed.
At any time and free of charge, you have the right to access your personal data stored, their source, their
recipient, and to be informed about the purposes of the processing (section 15 of the General Data Protection
Regulation [GDPR]). You also have the right to request rectification, erasure, and the right to restriction of
processing (section 16–19, GDPR).
Besides, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority (section 77, GDPR).
Regarding the above right and any other questions on personal data, you can always contact us (please refer to
the address in the Legal Notice).
At any time, you can withdraw your consent given to store the data (section 21, GDPR). In order to so, please
contact the point of contact provided in the Legal Notice.
I hereby give my consent that the following data:
may be transmitted to the Friedrich Schiller University Jena (University) and that the University may process and use them. The device ID and the geographical position shall neither be linked to other data nor stored. The transmission and usage of the data are necessary to obtain person- and location-specific information and notifications, and to improve the app. I have been informed that I can withdraw this consent at any time without suffering from any disadvantages. I am fully aware of the fact that the process of giving my consent itself will be recorded in the interest of traceability. I have been re-assured that my interests concerning the data protection are guaranteed without any restrictions and that my data will not be disclosed to any third party.
